Big Rapids Anime Underground was created to give Anime fans a chance to get together and share their favorite series with each other, socialize, play games, eat food, and simply have a good time! Each meetup will have a schedule posted on this blog, with the series and episodes which are to be screened at that meetup, as well as a schedule to show what time each show or movie is going to start.
I will also be listing the snacks which will be provided, so if there is a special request which needs to be filled just let me know; and you are also free to bring anything you want to eat or drink. Alcoholic beverages are allowed, but will not be provided by me and I ask if you wish to drink at a meetup you bring a state issued identification card with you; anyone who is not 21 years of age or older is not permitted to drink alcohol at a meetup and will be asked to leave if caught breaking the rules.
Smoking is permitted and I have a separate smoking area away from the meetup, but still inside that can be used by members if it is needed. If it causes any problems with non-smoking members, the area will be moved to a different building outside of the meetups location.
Not all material shown is going to be appropriate for everyone, so I encourage everyone to look at the schedule and make good decisions based on their own personal views. I have a separate room with game consoles hooked up for anyone who doesn't want to watch a particular series, but wants to stay for the whole meetup. Hentai, or any series which has copious amounts of graphic, sexually-explicit material will not be screened at regular meetups. If you have questions or concerns about a particular series and you cannot readily find information on it's rating or content on the schedule, contact me and I will help you the best I can.
Members are encouraged to have their own meetups as well, I simply ask anyone hosting a meetup to not screen a scheduled series. This will help keep regular meetups consistent, and avoid members missing out on episodes or having to watch the same series multiple times in a row. If you wish for me to display a schedule for your meetup on the website, send me a write-up for the get-together along with your schedule and I will display it the best I can.
Anime series will be voted on by the group, and can fall into any category, and is not limited to 'Anime' in general but may also include 'Live-Action' series such as Kamen Rider or Super Sentai, but they must be agreed upon by the group. If a series spans over 24 episodes, then only the first 24 episodes will be shown and then the group will vote to continue the series or replace it with something else. Movies are welcome and the group can decide how to handle each movie individually.
Typically, Big Rapids Anime Underground will be screening four shows, two episodes of each, once a week. This gives us a one-hour time-slot per show with breaks in-between episodes and series. Movies which go over that time-slot may be either cut into two parts, or voted on to take the time slot of something else that week. They could also be scheduled to begin earlier or end later than the meetups typical time, as long as the group agrees on the time.
I would like to point out that while the group is available for everyone to join, the meetups are restricted to 18+ years of age. I am sorry if this is an issue for you, but understand that this is a privately run group; I will not be held responsible for the actions of members under the age of 18. Due to viewing content, and the adult nature of group meetups, I have to respectfully request you not attend official meetups. If other members wish to hold a meetup for younger members, I will still try and accommodate the group the best I can; listing the lineup, promoting, helping get it set-up.
